Up in remote, mountainous Vietnam, children live in poverty with winter months being the worst. Their homes are bamboo shacks with walls which let in the cold, wind, and rain. It is not surprising that children like ‘Thao’ shiver through these months.
Just last year, Thao (7 years old at the time) was home alone, barefoot and feeling the cold of winter. When a neighbor came by offering her a pair of shoes, Thao did not think twice. Her feet were cold, and this was a logical solution. However, the neighbor had other plans.
Thao was kidnapped and then smuggled across the border to China where she was to be sold as a domestic servant.
All she wanted was to be warm, but now she was in terrible danger.
Blue Dragon found and rescued Thao, and now supports her whole family. They cannot harvest enough from their small plot of land to feed everyone in the family. Her family is one of the poorest in the community.
This Christmas, you can give children like Thao the gift of warmth – a ‘snug pack’ with a jacket, socks, a hat and a blanket. Your kindness will mean the world to the children who would otherwise have a very cold winter again.
So please, give a ‘snug pack’ or two and make it a warm Christmas for children in need. Your kindness will mean the world to the children who would otherwise have a very cold winter again.
