A thank you letter to the Blue Dragon community

As a child, Ha came dangerously close to dropping out of school when her parents couldn’t afford the fees. 

She met Blue Dragon, finished her education and this year graduated from university with excellent honours. The moment was so emotional that it inspired her to write an open letter to the global Blue Dragon community.

Here is her story in her own words, shared with permission.

My name is Ha, and I recently graduated with a degree in English Language from foreign languages university. I’m proud to say that I graduated with excellent honours.

I’m writing this with all my gratitude and respect to Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation – the people who changed my life in the most significant way.

Many years ago, I came dangerously close to dropping out of school because my family was going through such a hard time. Back then, the road ahead was uncertain. But thanks to your care, your support and your presence by my side, I was given the chance to keep going to school and to keep nurturing dreams that once felt so far out of reach.

What I’ve always carried with me isn’t just the material support but also the love, encouragement and guidance you gave me throughout my journey growing up. You believed in me and encouraged me to work hard. That belief became a huge source of strength that helped me get through even the hardest times.

My achievements aren’t mine alone, they belong just as much to the care and support that Blue Dragon has given me all these years. I still think that if I hadn’t met you back then, my life and my future could have gone in a completely different direction.

Throughout my four years at university, I always tried to study hard and keep improving myself. I’m deeply grateful for the knowledge, skills and experiences I gained from the training programs and activities you shared with me along the way. Because of that, as I prepare to step into this next chapter with my first job, I feel more grown-up and ready to face whatever challenges lie ahead.

No words of thanks could ever fully capture the gratitude I feel for the Blue Dragon community. I just want you to know that I will always hold onto this kindness with all the appreciation in my heart. What you did for me didn’t just give me the chance to study, it gave me belief in myself and in the goodness of people.

I hope that one day I’ll also have the chance to give back, even in some small way, to the journey that Blue Dragon continues to carry forward. I hope more children facing hardship will be given that same chance to chase their dreams. That’s how I want to pass on the good that I was lucky enough to receive.

Once again, I want to send you my most sincere and heartfelt thanks. I wish you all good health, happiness, and the strength to keep that fire burning as you continue bringing hope to children facing hardship across the country.
