Another online friend turned trafficker

August 17, 2016

When you are 14 years old, it is difficult to imagine that an online friend could sell you to a brothel. ‘Thao’ is a good student and like all teenagers, used social media. The nice young man she met online turned up in her hometown soon after they started corresponding. He quickly gained her trust and she agreed to visit his mother. What Thao did not realise is that his mother lives in China. When she got there, the mother-son team sold her to a brothel. After months of misery, she was sold again to another brothel. However, during the transit, another girl and Thao attempted to escape. They were caught, but luckily for them, the Chinese police were alerted and rescued them. Blue Dragon was then called to assist with Thao’s return to Vietnam. She is now being cared for by the Blue Dragon team.
