Initiative to Improve Communication with Trafficking Survivors

April 20, 2017
A large number of trafficked girls rescued by Blue Dragon from China are from ethnic minority groups. Many do not speak Vietnamese. This poses a challenge when making police statements, and in the provision of health care and counselling when they return.
A new initiative of Blue Dragon is to train 15 university students from ethnic minority groups. They are fluent in the following ethnic languages:  H’Mong, Ray, Nung, Thai, Muong, and Dao. The first workshop was just held to train the students in interpreting skills. There will be more workshops on Child Protection, Confidentiality, Psychology of Survivors, etc, in the coming weeks. They will then be ready to assist Blue Dragon’s team in providing the best care possible for the girls following their rescue.
