Coming from an ethnic minority background in a remote region, it was difficult for ‘Thang’ to deal with the challenges of being a new kid in a city school. During a life-skills workshop held for 21 Blue Dragon kids aged between 8 and 14, Thang learnt about emotions and how to handle feelings. The kids respected the workshop ground rules of listening to each other carefully, and were encouraged to speak up. Thang knows now that being angry because he cannot read or write well is understandable, and he has learnt how to deal with these feelings. He is motivated to change his thinking and to stay in school. Isn’t this a great workshop outcome?!
