Blue Dragon has just set up a second Parents Group in remote northern Vietnam. There are 68 households in this village, and 70% of them live below the poverty line. It is made up entirely of the Hmong ethnic community. The Group was established to encourage women to be part of the decision-making process, and to raise awareness about child rights, human trafficking, and primary health care.
Blue Dragon will also share information about safe migration. Many adults have to find work elsewhere during part of the year as they cannot earn enough from their small plot of land.
The Parents Group will now meet regularly to discuss how to improve the health, safety and protection of children and their community.
