Trung was living rough on the streets when we met him more than 12 years ago. He was a tiny boy, and even though he was just 13 he had already experienced an incredibly difficult life.
Over the years, Blue Dragon cared for Trung, giving him a home and helping him find his way back to school and training. He was a bright teenager and just needed to belong. There were plenty of ups and downs along the way, but Trung has grown into a hard working and thoughtful young man and stays in touch with us regularly.
This week, Trung dropped by the Blue Dragon centre with a surprise. He has been saving his salary to buy gifts for the Blue Dragon kids. With Tet (Lunar New Year) coming on February 16, Trung understands how hard this holiday can be for children who are homeless and far from their family, and he wanted to do his part to create some joy.
Blue Dragon raises children with the hope that they too will grow into caring, responsible adults. Trung’s success and concern for others is the best Tet gift we can have.
