Banh Chung is a ‘cake’ of sticky rice, mung beans and pork. Throughout Vietnam, people cook and eat Banh Chung at Lunar New Year, sharing it with close friends and family at meal times.
This year, the teens of Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation wanted to share the festival spirit with people whose own New Year would be lonely, and so gathered at Dragon House to make mountains of the sticky cake right before the holiday started. They then delivered their gifts to people living outside Hanoi in a village where the elderly and people suffering from leprosy live.
Every act of kindness we do for others is important, no matter how big or small. Blue Dragon hopes that the Year of the Dog is one in which we all care more for each other and do our part to make this world a better place.
