Trafficked teen reunited with parents

January 19, 2017
It is a job no Chinese wants to do. So they used forced labour of children like ‘Toan’ who was trafficked to China. He is only 15 years old and from an ethnic minority community. His family is poor so Toan decided to follow the man who promised him a job on a farm. Instead of farming, Toan was forced to climb a rocky mountain to plant tree saplings in stony soil. It is precarious hard work made worse by the fact that he hardly had any food to eat and no money at all. He was very badly treated.
After enduring this for a few months, he ran away and was found by Chinese police. Blue Dragon’s rescue team assisted Toan to cross the border and the social workers cared for him while his family was notified. He was finally reunited with his parents last night.
