Over the space of a few hours, 20 Blue Dragon teens in Central Vietnam were able to discuss the difficult topic of sexual abuse. The 13 – 15 year olds were initially very reticent and unsure. However, playing some games and drawing their thoughts got them talking.
“What kind of touching is safe?”, “Is it sexual abuse when teachers hug and kiss you?”, “Can neighbours carry children?” These were some of the many questions they asked.
All it took was the shade of a tree, some paper, colour pencils and a skilled facilitator for these kids to now know what sexual abuse is, and how to protect themselves. Blue Dragon is planning more of these sessions in the future.
