Human Trafficking in Post-Covid Vietnam
Since the Covid-19 pandemic broke out, new human trafficking trends and patterns have emerged in Vietnam. Victims are being trafficked to new locations and the communities at risk of this crime have multiplied.
This report considers the widespread economic impacts of the pandemic in Vietnam and the human trafficking trends that emerged in this new context.
By analysing the gender, age, form of exploitation and destination countries of 1,128 child and adult victims of human trafficking assisted by Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation between 2018 and 2022, we offer insight into the transformation these factors have triggered in the human trafficking landscape in Vietnam and beyond, providing evidence to inform interventions to prevent trafficking and support survivors.
