Anti-Trafficking Boards

October 21, 2024

Over two decades of work, Blue Dragon has rescued more than 1,500 people from human trafficking. But to end this crime for good, we need to stop it at the source.

One way Blue Dragon does this is by setting up Anti-Trafficking Boards in remote communities.

Community leaders share the latest anti-human trafficking practices with villagers

Anti-Trafficking Boards are run by community leaders. We give them expert insight into the latest anti-human trafficking practices, which they then pass onto their communities through workshops and meetings.

In one remote region, Anti-Trafficking Board members created short, easy to understand slogans in their local languages which quickly became common parlance among residents.

Now, when an outsider comes to their village looking for a bride, residents spread the word and report the situation to local authorities.

As well as implementing practices designed to help people spot and report specific instances of human trafficking, Anti-Trafficking Boards identify and assist at-risk families and children. By making sure vulnerable children stay in school and enabling families to start small farms and businesses, they make them more resilient to the false promises of human traffickers.

Anti-Trafficking Boards use games and activities to make their classes fun and memorable

So far, we have set up over 140 such boards in some of Vietnam’s most vulnerable communities, reaching thousands of people. Like all our work at Blue Dragon, Anti-Trafficking Boards are about empowerment.

By empowering vulnerable communities to care for themselves, their newfound resilience spreads from person to person, community to community.

With each community made more resilient to human trafficking, we come a step closer to ending this horrendous crime for good.
